Crafting a 2025 HIA Kitchen Finalist in Somersby
This Somersby kitchen was recognised as a 2025 HIA Kitchen Finalist for its craftsmanship, thoughtful layout and rich material selection. The clients wanted a luxurious yet warm atmosphere, which led to a distinctly contemporary aesthetic.
Striking veined stone wraps the island, splashback and rangehood, creating a seamless flow and becoming the standout feature of the space. Its texture and movement add depth and visual interest while providing a highly functional workspace.
Dark timber cabinetry grounds the design and contrasts with the lighter stone surfaces. Soft brass handles and subtle LED lighting introduce warmth and highlight the stone’s natural details.
The island’s generous proportions and waterfall edges make it ideal for cooking, entertaining and casual dining, with the integrated sink and tapware allowing the stone to remain the main focus. A long preparation bench and fully clad rangehood continue the smooth, cohesive look.
The adjoining butler’s pantry extends the design theme with matching cabinetry, extra storage and practical workspace.
This Somersby kitchen blends natural beauty with refined detailing, delivering a space worthy of its 2025 HIA recognition.
